Roots to Canopy Elementary

Project Description: Design an elementary school from a pre-existing building

Thesis: Students are often not provided with programs that help them gain self-confidence and independence. Creating spaces for programs like Theater, STEM, and Home EC allows students to have a hands-on experience that works on following instructions and communicating with fellow classmates. Each of these programs presents students with unique opportunities to explore and hone in on different sets of skills. Communication, critical thinking, and reading comprehension are all skills that are developed by being in these programs. Providing schools with programs that allow students to practice independence helps with problem-solving, communication skills, and self-confidence they can help them grow outside of school.
